ສຸພາສິດ

1	ຕໍ່ໄປນີ້ເປັນສຸພາສິດຂອງໂຊໂລໂມນ ຊຶ່ງຄົນຂອງເຮເຊກີຢາ ກະສັດແຫ່ງຢູດາໄດ້ກ່າຍໄວ້	These also are proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.
2	ສະຫງ່າລາສີຂອງພຣະເຈົ້າຄືການເຊື່ອງສິ່ງຕ່າງໆໄວ້ ແຕ່ກຽດຂອງກະສັດ ຄືການຄົ້ນຫາສິ່ງຕ່າງໆໃຫ້ປາກົດ	It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
3	ຟ້າສະຫວັນສູງສັນໃດ ແລະແຜ່ນດິນໂລກເລິກສັນໃດ ພະໄທຂອງກະສັດ ກໍເຫລືອຈະຮູ້ເຫັນສັນນັ້ນ	As the heavens for height, and the earth for depth, So the heart of kings is unsearchable.
4	ຈົ່ງໄລ່ຂີ້ອອກໄປຈາກເງິນ ແລ້ວຈຶ່ງຈະມີວັດຖຸສຳລັບຊ່າງເຮັດຂັນ	Take away the dross from the silver, And there cometh forth a vessel for the refiner:
5	ຈົ່ງໄລ່ຄົນຊົ່ວຮ້າຍອອກໄປເສຍຈາກພະພັກກະສັດ ແລະພະທີ່ນັ່ງຂອງພະອົງຈະສະຖາປະນາໄວ້ດ້ວຍຄວາມຊອບທຳ	Take away the wicked [from] before the king, And his throne shall be established in righteousness.
6	ຢ່າເອົາຕົວເຈົ້າຂຶ້ນມາຕໍ່ພະພັກກະສັດ ຫລືຢືນຢູ່ໃນບ່ອນຂອງຜູ້ຫລັກຜູ້ໃຫຍ່	Put not thyself forward in the presence of the king, And stand not in the place of great men:
7	ເພາະການທີ່ເພິ່ນຈະກ່າວວ່າ “ເຊີນຂຶ້ນມາບ່ອນນີ້” ກໍດີກວ່າຖືກໄລ່ລົງໄປບ່ອນຕ່ຳຕ້ອຍຕໍ່ໜ້າເຈົ້ານາຍຜູ້ຊຶ່ງຕາຂອງເຈົ້າໄດ້ເຫັນ	For better is it that it be said unto thee, Come up hither, Than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince, Whom thine eyes have seen.
8	ຢ່າຟ້າວນຳເຂົ້າມາຍັງສານ ເພາະເມື່ອເພື່ອນບ້ານຂອງເຈົ້າເຮັດໃຫ້ເຈົ້າໄດ້ອັບອາຍແລ້ວ ໃນທີ່ສຸດເຈົ້າຈະເຮັດຢ່າງໃດ	Go not forth hastily to strive, Lest [thou know not] what to do in the end thereof, When thy neighbor hath put thee to shame.
9	ຈົ່ງຕົກລົງເລື່ອງຂອງເຈົ້າກັບເພື່ອນບ້ານຂອງເຈົ້າ ແລະຢ່າເຮັດໃຫ້ເຜີຍຄວາມລັບຂອງກັນແລະກັນ.	Debate thy cause with thy neighbor [himself], And disclose not the secret of another;
10	ຢ້ານວ່າຜູ້ທີ່ໄດ້ຍິນ ຈະນຳຄວາມອັບອາຍມາສູ່ເຈົ້າ ແລະຊື່ສຽງຂອງເຈົ້າຈະມົວໝອງຢູ່ດົນ	Lest he that heareth it revile thee, And thine infamy turn not away.
11	ຖ້ອຍຄຳທີ່ເວົ້າຢ່າງເໝາະສົມຈະເປັນເໝືອນໝາກແອບເປີ້ນທອງຄຳໃນພາຊະນະເງິນ	A word fitly spoken Is [like] apples of gold in network of silver.
12	ຄົນຕັກເຕືອນທີ່ສະຫລາດກັບຫູທີ່ເຊື່ອຟັງ ກໍເປັນເໝືອນກັບແຫວນທອງຄຳ ຫລືເຄື່ອງເອ້ທອງຄຳເນື້ອດີ	[As] an ear-ring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, [So is] a wise reprover upon an obedient ear.
13	ຫິມະໃຫ້ຄວາມເຢັນໃນລະດູເກັບກ່ຽວສັນໃດ ຜູ້ສົ່ງຂ່າວທີ່ສັດຊື່ຍ່ອມເຮັດໃຫ້ຈິດວິນຍານຂອງນາຍຜູ້ໃຊ້ລາວຊຸ່ມຊື່ນສັນນັ້ນ	As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, [So is] a faithful messenger to them that send him; For he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14	ຄົນທີ່ອວດວ່າຈະໃຫ້ຂອງຂວັນແຕ່ບໍ່ໄດ້ໃຫ້ ກໍເປັນເໝືອນດັ່ງເມກ ແລະລົມທີ່ບໍ່ມີຝົນ	[As] clouds and wind without rain, [So is] he that boasteth himself of his gifts falsely.
15	ຄວາມພາກພຽນຈະຊັກນຳຜູ້ປົກຄອງໄດ້ ແລະລີ້ນທີ່ອ່ອນຫວານຈະເຮັດໃຫ້ກະດູກຫັກໄດ້	By long forbearing is a ruler persuaded, And a soft tongue breaketh the bone.
16	ເຈົ້າໄດ້ພົບນ້ຳເຜິ້ງແລ້ວບໍ ຈົ່ງກິນແຕ່ພໍດີ ຢ້ານວ່າເຈົ້າຈະອີ່ມ ແລະຮາກອອກມາ	Hast thou found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for thee, Lest thou be filled therewith, and vomit it.
17	ຢ່າໃຫ້ຕີນຂອງເຈົ້າຢູ່ໃນເຮືອນເພື່ອນບ້ານຂອງເຈົ້າດົນໆ ຢ້ານວ່າລາວຈະອິດເມື່ອຍເພາະເຈົ້າ ແລະກຽດຊັງເຈົ້າ	Let thy foot be seldom in thy neighbor's house, Lest he be weary of thee, and hate thee.
18	ຄົນໃດທີ່ເປັນພະຍານບໍ່ຈິງກ່າວໂທດເພື່ອນບ້ານຂອງຕົນ ກໍເປັນເໝືອນດັ່ງກະບອງເສິກ ຫລືດາບ ຫລືລູກທະນູທີ່ຄົມ	A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor Is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19	ການວາງໃຈໃນຄົນທີ່ບໍ່ສັດຊື່ໃນຍາມລຳບາກ ກໍເປັນເໝືອນດັ່ງແຂ້ວທີ່ຫັກແລ້ວ ຫລືຕີນທີ່ຫລຸດຈາກຂໍ້ຕໍ່	Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is [like] a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.
20	ບັນດາຄົນທີ່ຮ້ອງເພງໃຫ້ຄົນທຸກໃຈຟັງ ກໍເປັນຄືກັບຄົນຖອດເຄື່ອງແຕ່ງກາຍອອກໃນມື້ທີ່ອາກາດໜາວ ແລະເປັນຄືກັບການເອົານ້ຳສົ້ມມາຫົດເທິງຜົງໂສດາ	[As] one that taketh off a garment in cold weather, [and as] vinegar upon soda, So is he that singeth songs to a heavy heart.
21	ຖ້າສັດຕູຂອງເຈົ້າຫິວ ຈົ່ງໃຫ້ອາຫານລາວຮັບປະທານ ແລະຖ້າລາວກະຫາຍ ຈົ່ງໃຫ້ນ້ຳລາວດື່ມ	If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; And if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22	ເພາະເຈົ້າຈະກອງຖ່ານທີ່ລຸກກ້າໄວ້ເທິງຫົວຂອງລາວ ແລະພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າຈະຊົງໃຫ້ບຳເໜັດແກ່ເຈົ້າ	For thou wilt heap coals of fire upon his head, And Jehovah will reward thee.
23	ລົມເໜືອໄລ່ຝົນໄປສັນໃດ ສີໜ້າທີ່ເຄືອງແຄ້ນກໍໄລ່ຕາມລີ້ນທີ່ເວົ້າຂວັນນິນທາໄປສັນນັ້ນ	The north wind bringeth forth rain: So doth a backbiting tongue an angry countenance.
24	ຢູ່ທີ່ມຸມເທິງຫລັງຄາເຮືອນ ກໍດີກວ່າຢູ່ໃນເຮືອນກວ້າງຂວາງຮ່ວມກັບຍິງທີ່ມັກຜິດຖຽງກັນ	It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, Than with a contentious woman in a wide house.
25	ຂ່າວດີຈາກເມືອງໄກ ກໍເໝືອນກັບໃຫ້ນ້ຳເຢັນແກ່ຄົນທີ່ກະຫາຍ	[As] cold waters to a thirsty soul, So is good news from a far country.
26	ຄົນຊອບທຳທີ່ຍອມພ່າຍແພ້ແກ່ຄົນຊົ່ວຮ້າຍ ກໍເປັນເໝືອນດັ່ງນ້ຳພຸທີ່ມີຂີ້ຕົມ ຫລືເປັນເໝືອນດັ່ງນ້ຳບໍ່ທີ່ເປິເປື້ອນ	[As] a troubled fountain, and a corrupted spring, [So is] a righteous man that giveth way before the wicked.
27	ການກິນນ້ຳເຜິ້ງຫລາຍ ກໍບໍ່ດີ ສະນັ້ນ, ຈຶ່ງເປັນການບໍ່ມີກຽດເມື່ອຄົນນັ້ນຊອກຫາກຽດສຳລັບຕົນເອງ	It is not good to eat much honey: So [for men] to search out their own glory is grievous.
28	ຄົນທີ່ປາດສະຈາກການປົກຄອງຈິດໃຈຕົນເອງ ກໍເປັນເໝືອນດັ່ງເມືອງທີ່ເພພັງ ແລະບໍ່ມີກຳແພງ	He whose spirit is without restraint Is [like] a city that is broken down and without walls.
