ສຸພາສິດ

1	ເຫລົ້າອະງຸ່ນເຮັດໃຫ້ເກີດການເຍາະເຍີ້ຍ ແລະເຫລົ້າກໍເຮັດໃຫ້ເປັນຄົນອັນທະພານ ຜູ້ໃດຖືກມັນຫລອກລວງ ກໍບໍ່ເປັນຄົນສະຫລາດ	Wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler; And whosoever erreth thereby is not wise.
2	ຄວາມຕົກໃຈຢ້ານຂອງກະສັດ ກໍເໝືອນກັບສິງໃຫຍ່ຄຳລາມ ຜູ້ໃດຍົວະເຍົ້າພະອົງໃຫ້ໂກດຮ້າຍ ກໍເຮັດຜິດຕໍ່ຊີວິດຂອງຕົນເອງ	The terror of a king is as the roaring of a lion: He that provoketh him to anger sinneth [against] his own life.
3	ການຮັກສາຕົນໃຫ້ພົ້ນຈາກການຜິດຖຽງກັນ ກໍເປັນກຽດ ແຕ່ຄົນໂງ່ທຸກຄົນຈະເຂົ້າຫຍຸ້ງກ່ຽວເລື່ອງຂອງຄົນອື່ນ	It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife; But every fool will be quarrelling.
4	ຄົນຂີ້ຄ້ານບໍ່ໄຖນາໃນລະດູໜາວ ລາວຈຶ່ງຈະສະແຫວງຫາ ເມື່ອເຖິງລະດູເກັບກ່ຽວ ແຕ່ບໍ່ພົບຫຍັງເລີຍ	The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; Therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5	ຄຳປຶກສາໃນໃຈຂອງຄົນເປັນຄືນ້ຳເລິກ ແຕ່ຄົນທີ່ມີຄວາມເຂົ້າໃຈຈະສາມາດພຸ່ງມັນອອກມາໄດ້	Counsel in the heart of man is [like] deep water; But a man of understanding will draw it out.
6	ຄົນເປັນຈຳນວນຫລາຍເວົ້າເຖິງຄວາມດີຂອງຕົນເອງ ແຕ່ໃຜຈະຫາຄົນສັດຊື່ພົບໄດ້	Most men will proclaim every one his own kindness; But a faithful man who can find?
7	ຄົນຍຸດຕິທຳດຳເນີນໃນຄວາມສັດຊື່ຂອງຕົນ ບຸດທັງຫລາຍທີ່ເກີດຕາມລາວມາຍ່ອມໄດ້ຮັບພອນ	A righteous man that walketh in his integrity, Blessed are his children after him.
8	ກະສັດຜູ້ປະທັບເທິງບັນລັງພິພາກສາ ຍ່ອມຊົງຝັດຄວາມຊົ່ວທັງຫລາຍອອກດ້ວຍພຣະເນດຂອງພຣະອົງ	A king that sitteth on the throne of judgment Scattereth away all evil with his eyes.
9	ຜູ້ໃດຈະກ່າວໄດ້ວ່າ “ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າໄດ້ເຮັດໃຫ້ໃຈຂອງຂ້າພະເຈົ້າໃຫ້ສະອາດແລ້ວ ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າບໍລິສຸດພົ້ນບາບຂອງຂ້າພະເຈົ້າ”	Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin?
10	ເຄື່ອງຊັ່ງ ແລະເຄື່ອງແທກໂກງ ທັງສອງເປັນທີ່ໜ້າກຽດຊັງແກ່ພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າເທົ່າໆກັນ	Diverse weights, and diverse measures, Both of them alike are an abomination to Jehovah.
11	ແມ່ນແຕ່ເດັກນ້ອຍ ກໍສະແດງຕົວໂດຍການປະພຶດຂອງລາວວ່າ ສິ່ງທີ່ລາວເຮັດຈະບໍລິສຸດ ແລະຖືກຕ້ອງຫລືບໍ່	Even a child maketh himself known by his doings, Whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.
12	ຫູທີ່ຟັງໄດ້ ແລະຕາທີ່ເບິ່ງເຫັນ ພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າຊົງສ້າງມັນທັງສອງ	The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Jehovah hath made even both of them.
13	ຢ່າຮັກການຫລັບໄຫລ ຢ້ານວ່າເຈົ້າຈະມາເຖິງຄວາມຍາກຈົນ ຈົ່ງມືນຕາຂອງເຈົ້າ ແລະເຈົ້າຈະໄດ້ກິນອາຫານອີ່ມ	Love not sleep, let thou come to poverty; Open thine eyes, [and] thou shalt be satisfied with bread.
14	ຜູ້ຊື້ເວົ້າວ່າ “ບໍ່ດີ ຊົ່ວ” ແຕ່ເມື່ອລາວໄປແລ້ວ ລາວຈຶ່ງເວົ້າໂອ້ອວດ	It is bad, it is bad, saith the buyer; But when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
15	ມີທອງຄຳ ແລະທັບທິມມີຄ່າເປັນຈຳນວນຫລາຍ ແຕ່ຮີມປາກທີ່ມີຄວາມຮູ້ ກໍເປັນເພັດນິນຈິນດາປະເສີດ	There is gold, and abundance of rubies; But the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
16	ຈົ່ງຈ່ອງເສື້ອຜ້າຂອງລາວໄວ້ ເມື່ອລາວໃຫ້ສັນຍາກັບຄົນອື່ນ ແລະຍຶດຕົວລາວໄວ້ ເມື່ອເຂົາຮັບປະກັນຍິງຕ່າງດ້າວ	Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [that is surety] for foreigners.
17	ອາຫານທີ່ໄດ້ມາດ້ວຍການຫລອກລວງມີລົດຫວານແກ່ຜູ້ໄດ້ມາ ແຕ່ພາຍຫລັງປາກຂອງລາວຈະເຕັມໄປດ້ວຍຫີນແຮ່	Bread of falsehood is sweet to a man; But afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
18	ແຜນງານທັງໝົດດຳລົງຢູ່ໄດ້ດ້ວຍການປຶກສາຫາລື ຈົ່ງເຮັດສົງຄາມດ້ວຍມີການນຳທີ່ສະຫລາດ	Every purpose is established by counsel; And by wise guidance make thou war.
19	ບຸກຄົນທີ່ທຽວນິນທາໄປ ກໍເຜີຍຄວາມລັບໃຫ້ກະຈາຍ ສະນັ້ນ ຢ່າເຂົ້າສັງຄົມກັບຄົນທີ່ຍົກຍໍດ້ວຍຮີມປາກຂອງຕົນ	He that goeth about as a tale-bearer revealeth secrets; Therefore company not with him that openeth wide his lips.
20	ຖ້າຄົນໜຶ່ງຄົນໃດດ່າພໍ່ ຫລືແມ່ຂອງຕົນ ຕະກຽງຂອງລາວຈະດັບມືດມິດ	Whoso curseth his father or his mother, His lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21	ຕັ້ງແຕ່ແຮກອາດໄດ້ຮັບມໍລະດົກ ແຕ່ທີ່ສຸດປາຍຈະບໍ່ເປັນພອນ	An inheritance [may be] gotten hastily at the beginning; But the end thereof shall not be blessed.
22	ຢ່າເວົ້າວ່າ “ຂ້າພະເຈົ້າຈະແກ້ແຄ້ນຄວາມຊົ່ວ” ແຕ່ຈົ່ງລໍຄອຍຖ້າພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າ ພຣະອົງຈະຊົງຊ່ວຍເຈົ້າໃຫ້ລອດພົ້ນ	Say not thou, I will recompense evil: Wait for Jehovah, and he will save thee.
23	ເຄື່ອງຊັ່ງສໍ້ໂກງເປັນທີ່ໜ້າກຽດຊັງແກ່ພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າ ແລະຕາຊິງທີ່ສໍ້ໂກງ ກໍບໍ່ດີ	Diverse weights are an abomination to Jehovah; And a false balance is not good.
24	ທາງເດີນຂອງມະນຸດນັ້ນ ພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າຊົງເປັນຜູ້ສັ່ງ ແລ້ວຄົນຈະເຂົ້າໃຈທາງຂອງລາວເອງໄດ້ຢ່າງໃດ	A man's goings are of Jehovah; How then can man understand his way?
25	ຄົນທີ່ກິນຂອງບໍລິສຸດ ແລະມາສອບຖາມເມື່ອປະຕິຍານໄປແລ້ວ ທັງສອງກໍເປັນບ້ວງແຮ້ວດັກຈັບຕົນເອງ	It is a snare to a man rashly to say, [It is] holy, And after vows to make inquiry.
26	ກະສັດທີ່ສະຫລາດຍ່ອມຝັດຄົນຊົ່ວຮ້າຍ ແລ້ວຊົງບັນດານກົງຈັກທັບພວກເຂົາ	A wise king winnoweth the wicked, And bringeth the [threshing] -wheel over them.
27	ຈິດວິນຍານຂອງມະນຸດເປັນຕະກຽງຂອງພຣະຜູ້ເປັນເຈົ້າ ສ່ອງເບິ່ງສ່ວນເລິກທີ່ສຸດຂອງລາວທັງໝົດ	The spirit of man is the lamp of Jehovah, Searching all his innermost parts.
28	ຄວາມເມດຕາ ແລະຄວາມຈິງຮັກສາກະສັດໄວ້ ແລະຄວາມເມດຕາກໍເຊີດຊູພະທີ່ນັ່ງຂອງພະອົງໄວ້	Kindness and truth preserve the king; And his throne is upholden by kindness.
29	ສະຫງ່າລາສີຂອງຄົນໜຸ່ມຄືກຳລັງຂອງພວກເຂົາ ແຕ່ຄວາມງາມຂອງຄົນເຖົ້າ ຄືຜົມຫງອກຂອງພວກເຂົາ	The glory of young men is their strength; And the beauty of old men is the hoary head.
30	ການບວມຊ້ຳດຳຂຽວຂອງບາດແຜ ກໍຊຳລະຄວາມຊົ່ວ ການຂ້ຽນຕີເຮັດໃຫ້ສ່ວນເລິກທີ່ສຸດສະອາດສະອ້ານ	Stripes that wound cleanse away evil; And strokes [reach] the innermost parts.
